Introduction to ISO 45010 Menstruation, menstrual health and menopause in the workplace — Guidance

On the 3rd of April 2025 the International Standards Organisation’s TC 283 hosted an informal webinar, "Introduction to ISO 45010 Menstruation, menstrual health and menopause in the workplace — Guidance.

ISO 45010 addresses:

  • the historic gender-imbalance in OH&S (cf, PPE, chemical exposure limits etc)
  • part of the move from “one size fits all” to take into account the full diversity of a workforce
  • helps prevent the expensive loss of female talent from the workforce.

Questions posed during the presentation asked, for each participant’s region,

  • What makes the biggest barriers to addressing menopause and menstrual health in the workplace?
  • How can this work help people overcome those barriers?
  • What one thing do you hope the standard achieves?

If you weren't able to make it, you can also now view a recording of the webinar here:

Want to help?

If you want to get involved as a volunteer, there is work to share. It doesn’t always involve on-line meetings in the middle of the night. If you join Aotearoa | New Zealand’s national mirror committee (facilitated by Standards New Zealand in MBIE) you can help represent Kiwi and other views on what matters and what distinguishes good practice from other.

Ability to work with diverse others in discussion and writing is the main thing. English is the documentary language, but insight into linguistic and cultural considerations in translation and practical interpretation are valuable. If you are interested, email or call and we’ll help you figure out what might suit you.

Here's a link to the British Standard which was the leaping-off point for this work: BS 30416:2023 Menstruation, menstrual health and menopause in the workplace. Guide. It’s free to download if you are looking for ideas on what good practice might look like.
